WHO Can Vote

Who can vote in the Vinings Cityhood May 24 Special Election?

Any eligible, registered voter within the proposed map of City of Vinings boundaries will have the Vinings Cityhood referendum on their ballot for the May 24 General Primary/Nonpartisan/Special Election. Anyone outside the boundaries of the proposed map will not. Please note that there will be voting locations where some people will vote on Vinings Cityhood and some will not. The ballot is specific to the registered voter’s home address not their voting precinct or polling location.

NOTE:  As of April, 24, 2022, any unregistered voters can no longer register to vote in the May 24, 2022 General Primary/Nonpartisan/Special Election as voter registration has to occur 30 days before an election.

HOW, WHEN and WHERE to Vote for Vinings Cityhood:

  1. Absentee Ballot  (Applications must be received by May 13 at Cobb County Elections & Registration Office.)
  2. Advance In-Person Voting  (Designated locations  May 2 – 20, except May 8 and 15)
  3. In-Person Election Day  (Precincts open 7:00am to 7:00pm on Tuesday, May 24)

ABSENTEE BALLOT

Any registered voter may apply for an Absentee Ballot via Cobb County’s online application.

Applications can only be accepted up to Friday, May 13th.

Absentee ballots are an option for registered voters who prefer to vote by mail instead of voting in person. You do not need an excuse to request an absentee ballot. You must request an absentee ballot in order to receive one in the mail. Your absentee ballot must be received by your local County Board of Registrar’s Office by the time polls close on Election Day in order to be counted.

NOTE:  Voters must personally sign their application for an Absentee Ballot. Electronic signatures are NOT accepted and application will be rejected.

ADVANCE IN-PERSON VOTING

Advance In-Person Voting begins Monday, May 2 for the May 24 Special Election.

During Advance In-Person Voting, you can vote at any location listed on Cobb County’s website.

Locations are also available on Cobb County’s Advance In-Person downloadable flyer.

Dates and times for Advance In-Person Voting:

May 2 – May 6, Monday – Friday: 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.
May 7, Saturday: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
May 9 – May 13, Monday – Friday: 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.
May 14, Saturday: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
May 16 – May 20, Monday – Friday: 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.

(There is NO VOTING on May 8, 15, 21, 22 or 23)

NOTE: On Election Day, May 24, you must vote at your assigned precinct’s polling location.

General Information:

IN-PERSON VOTING

In-Person Voting for Vinings Cityhood on May 24.

Eligible, registered voters can vote in person at their respective polling places on the Vinings Cityhood referendum as part of the General Primary/Nonpartisan/Special Election held on Tuesday, May 24.

Polling places are open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Voters must show a valid photo ID when voting in person. Acceptable forms of voter identification include a driver’s license or a U.S. passport.

The exact ballot question regarding Vinings cityhood is:  “Shall the Act incorporating the City of Vinings in Cobb County according to the charter contained in the Act be approved?”

All eligible voters, within the proposed City of Vinings map, desiring to vote for approval of the Act should vote “Yes”.
