Vinings Cityhood Town Hall

Recorded March 22, 2022

On Tuesday, March 22nd a virtual town hall was held and attended by over 150 Vinings citizens.

We had a broad array of expert panelists that presented and answered questions from the attendees:

  • Rep. John Carson – GA State Representative – 46th district – Cobb County
  • Sheriff Craig Owens – Cobb County Sheriff
  • Ron Sifen – long-time Vinings resident and “Zoning Guru”
  • Rob Rokovitz – City Manager – Chattahoochee Hills, GA
  • John McHenry – Assistant City Manager – Tucker, GA
  • Bill Riley – experienced City Attorney (started Sandy Springs, Johns Creek, Milton, Dunwoody, Chattahoochee Hills, Peachtree Corners, and Brookhaven)
  • Mark Rountree – President, Landmark Communications

Here are a couple of the key quotes from panelists:

“One of the biggest reasons why Vinings should become a city is for the control of zoning with representation that’s close to YOU.” – Rob Rokovitz – City Manager, Chattahoochee Hills, GA

Mr. Rokovitz also confirmed There is no increase in taxes.

Cobb Sheriff Craig Owens said “You will be covered on the public safety aspect during the transition to cityhood.”

This one-hour town hall was packed with information to help our neighbors decide for themselves about the future of our unique place.

Perhaps our favorite quote came from Bill Riley:

“Those people that were against it to begin with, ended up being some of the most persuaded people in the world. They come back and say they should have voted ‘Yes’.”

Don’t wish you had – join us and Vote Yes! on May 24th.
